Dr. Alfonso Corrales gained his medical degree in 1987 from University of Cantabria, Spain. Currently he is a rheumatologist at Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, Santander, Spain. He is working on his PhD project based on subclinical atherosclerosis markers in rheumatoid arthritis. He has done research in epidemiology and genetics of autoimmune diseases. He is a collaborator of Spanish projects supported by Instituto de Salud Carlos III – Fondo de Investigación Sanitaria – to study genetic markers associated with cardiovascular disease in rheumatoid arthritis.
He has published 18 articles included in PubMed, being the first author in 2 of them.
